Trounced by Samp. Maybe its the Ugly Away Jerseys.
By: Chris | November 24th, 2008It was as if Sampdoria was waiting for this particular game to spring back to form. Earlier in the week it seemed an ideal fixture for the Rossoblu, coming off two momentum-building wins and facing a Ligurian side that could only manage points from the very lowest of the table. But it was not to be; Sampdoria put its considerable talent advantage on display, as Antonia Cassano scored on two of several chances to pace the Blucerchiati to a deserved 3-0 win.
Catania’s usual tight defensive game evaporated in the face of pressure from the likes of Cassano and Bellucci, and only Sampdoria’s lack of finish kept the score close for most of the game. Other than flashes of counterattack in the latter part of the first half, the Catanese were unable to gain any foothold in the match. Zenga gambled and lost by starting Morimoto, in an attempt to match the pace of the home side. It would have been great to have taken a point here, but it was not to be.
Catania still sit tied for seventh in the table, with a winnable home game against Lecce coming up. They need maximum points here, as December is shaping up to be tough.

Terrible showing for Catania..however I don’t think their alternate Jerseys had anything to do with it…I actually like them…
