Lo Monaco Fumes as Catania Falls
By: Chris | December 8th, 2008It was a predicable result, in many ways: Catania dogs Milan for most of the game, misses on each of their few chances to score, and ultimately falls to a much better side. Few gave Catania much of a chance in this game, yet they played about as well as they could; a bit more finish around the net would have rewarded them with a very dear away point. Might Zenga’s presence have made the difference? We’ll never know.
You have to give them credit — the squad has held up well despite a string of poor results. One might have predicted them to have mailed it in during this mid-season swoon, and coasted the rest of the way on points earned to date. They have kept punching.
Someone needs to give Lo Monaco the script, however. There is simply no point ranting about a missed referee decision the day following the match, justified or not (he was not, by the way — it would have been impossible for Kaladze to have gotten his hand out of the way of the ball). Once the final whistle blows, the entire organization has to move on and focus on the next match. Take the result like a man, learn from the experience, and get back to work.
Next up: Fiorentina. If Catania can replicate this effort versus La Viola, they might be pleasantly surprised at the result.

KJ, absolutely not.
I’m flattered to hear you say we were a far better side, but in all honesty we weren’t
Couldn’t connect passes, couldn’t score, couldn’t defend, our coach showed zero technical knowledge. You guys put up a good fight and really went out there and played.Posted from
