Paolucci, Bizzarri Keep Surging Atalanta At Bay
By: Chris | September 21st, 2008Catania continued their stout play at home with a narrow 1-0 result against Atalanta, who began the day atop the Serie A table. Michele Paolucci, who was left out of the starting eleven against Inter, slipped the ball in on the short side of Atalanta keeper Ferdinando “Don’t-call-me-Sofia” Coppola for the only goal of the match. The Bergamasci were unable to capitalise on several good chances (17, to be exact), as the game once again showcased the talents of Albano Bizzarri.
Morimoto got the start, following his two-goal performance against Padova mid-week, making his case for a regular place in the starting lineup with a good scoring chance in the first half. Plasmati got the day off, and the Rossoblu were missing Tedesco and Terlizzi, who are expected back this week.
Catania’s depth will be put to the test this week, with 3 games in 9 days. Next up is a trip to Juventus on Wednesday.
