Juve Donates a Point to Catania

By: Chris | September 24th, 2008

I think its a very good sign when a team wins games it should not. That was certainly the case Wednesday, as Gli Elefanti got a better result that they should have from a Juventus team that generally dominated play. In some cases, Bizzarri stood on his head to keep Catania in the game, at other times Juve’s strikers were unable to put away chances that were gift-wrapped for them.

Amauri put the home side in front early, with a header from point-blank range, but the Rossoblu were able to keep the Juventus attackers at bay until Plasmati scored the equaliser midway through the second half.

Catania did not play badly, and in fact were well-organised on defence for most of the game. This is precisely how the team needs to play on the road in places like Stadio Olimpico. If they continue to beat the teams the should beat (Genoa, Atalanta) and occasionally take points from teams they shouldn’t, we will all be pleasantly surprised at the end of the season.
