Catania Seeks Return to Form Against Lazio
By: Chris | November 1st, 2008High-flying Calcio Catania were brought back to earth mid-week, falling 2-0 to leaders Udinese. While Catania played well enough for much of the game, it was apparent that this is probably not a team that can hold on to a place in Europe this year, despite the promising start. Still, their play has been consistent and entertaining overall.
Zenga’s squad looks to get back on track tomorrow on the road against Lazio. Catania won the last meeting between the teams last April, and 2 of the last 4. The Romans’ results have been mixed of late, winning convincingly on Wednesday at Verona, but losing the previous two. This should be a competitive match, as Catania look to exploit apparent weaknesses in the Biancocelesti back line. This is the sort of game that Catania must win if they expect to stay with the pack in the top half of the table. Lazio get Stefano Mauri and Pasquale Foggia back from suspension, but are still missing Francelino Matuzalem and Simone Del Nero to injury. On our side of the pitch, Catania is healthy, save for Gionathan Spinesi, with Ledesma returning to the active roster.
Prediction: Bizzarri will allow us to salvage a point, 2-2.
