Catania Returns To Form Against Roma
By: Chris | December 23rd, 2008The Rossoblu shook off their holiday blues, and posted a convincing (albeit unlikely) win at home to AS Roma over the weekend. Catania dominated the visitors over the first 75 minutes of the game, and had a 3-0 lead to show for it. This was chiefly due to Takayuki Morimoto’s two goals, which could well have been five goals with just a bit more luck and concentration.
Bizzarri chose a good time to have a lapse in play, allowing two rather soft goals in the final quarter of the game to make the game look closer than it was. Hopefully he got that out of his system.
The win came at an unexpected juncture in the season, with Roma riding an 8-game winning streak, and Catania mired in a slump that has yielded just one point in four matches. The win puts Gli Elefanti back in the top half of the table as the year draws to a close. The season resumes on the 11th of January, with Catania away to Southern rivals Napoli.
