Catania Move Up The Table

By: Chris | September 30th, 2008

Michele Paolucci’s breakaway goal early in the first half was all the Rossoblu needed to secure a victory over Chievo Verona. A positional error by Marco Malagò allowed Paolucci to get behind the Donkeys’ defence and slip the ball past Sorrentino, who had committed early. Chievo had a couple of reasonable chances, but were otherwise held in check, and never really challenged for points.

This result vaulted Catania to a tie for third in Serie A with Udinese and Inter, just a point behind Napoli and two behind current leaders Lazio. The next stretch of games sees Gli Elefanti at home versus Palermo and away to Reggina (this weekend) and Siena. These are very winnable games. If they continue their current run of form, its not unreasonable to expect to see Catania hanging around in the top half of the table in November.
