Vicenza Beat Catania 1-0

Catania played Seire B team Vicenza where Catania have lose there first pre season game to Vicenza.This was Catania 3 pre season. The other two games catania won both. 15-0,12-0 but they played garbage teams. This time around they played serie B side Vicenza, a hard working group of guys who fight hard in Serie B every year. Rolando Maran coached Vicenza for two season 2009-2010,2010-2011 where they were able to survive in Serie B.

To lose to a Serie B side is alittle shameful in my option when Catania had such a good starting 11 : Frison,Pablo Álvarez,Nicola Legrottaglie,Giuseppe Bellusci,Ciro Capuano,Mariano Izco,Francesco Lodi,Sergio Almirón,Alejandro Gómez,Gonzalo Bergessio,Lucas Castro.

Rolando Maran used a 4-3-3 formation. Which failed against Vicenza, The 4-3-3 formation is very hard to pull off if your forwards are not coming back to help out on defence. Vicenza scored in the 41min by Mr.Minesso slipped behind the defense and made Catania pay. Catania had great chances to score but some shots went wide some hit the post and others where blocked. Catania just had no luck against Vicenza keeper Mr. Pinsoglio.

I hope this game shows Sergio Gasparin that there are still thinks to fix with in are team and we should bring in some new faces.

Nicola Legrottaglie said this before the pre season started: ” We must give something more, remembering the good work that we did last season,The 36 year old went on to say ”I hope however,that the drop at the finale does not happen again, because one should never settle, but rather have the mentality of continuous improvement. Maran is humble coach,his staff have brought great value here”

Rolando Maran has a chance to redeem himself when catania take on Chievo on the 28th.
